Nooners At 'The Numbers'

If you know anything about "the numbers" at The Numbers, the first thing that may come into your mind is ... "Goodness, twinkies for lunch too?" Well not really not that twinkies are all that bad, but the news is, The Numbers has opened for bonafide lunch. And it's not all that bad. either. In fact, it's very good.

One of the first patrons interviewed stated that "the ambience is quite delightful, the service is very friendly and the food is extraordinary." Numbers does have a well tailored atmosphere, comfortable and secure. The traditional good service expected at the dinner hour has spilled over into lunchtime, and the food well let's see now the menu is compact but holds some delightful surprises. Under the heading "Appetizers" the "Mozzarella Marinara" was spiced just right, light and very tasty. Investigating the "Soups" is where a real surprise greets the gourmet connoisseur... the traditional "French Onion" is a long-standing favorite at Numbers. The surprise is the "Yucatan Lime." You may have discovered this provincial delight in Cancun or Uxmal. It's the best in L.A. even if you can find it elsewhere... Numbers has a winner!

Luncheon entrees have their little nuances

the "Fettucini Numbers" is delicious with shrimp and broccoli, the escargot and mushrooms is a bit much for lunch. Other choices include "Lime Chicken" and "Hamburger Steak" along with the "Special of the Day"... always ask about this chef's special shrimp remolade for example!

For salad eaters it's a feast! An excellent "spinach salad," a real taste treat, and the "avocado/shrimp with papaya" hits the palate from three sides, but the surprise is the "steak salad"... talk about a bowl, a large bowl, a meal in itself... Numbers has it. The luncheon experience is very satisfying even though there are no twinkies on the menu not even a cup cake!
